God’s Word Is Good Counsel! (Fact, Not Fiction or Opinion)

Hello Beautiful!

When you have a dilemma or serious issue, do you want someone’s opinion? I don’t. I am expecting some words of wisdom, some directions, or instructions. Let’s get into God’s word.

Where no counsel is the people will fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety. – Proverbs 11:14

Can you remember a time when you were faced with an issue that seemed pressing and you made a decision without time for reflection or advice? Those times did not end up well for me. If you get much counseling, not an opinion but strong, tried, and true words of life, you would be safe.

Only by pride cometh contention, but with the well-advised is wisdom. – Proverbs 13:10

Uh-oh. Give that some thought… contention is a heated disagreement because of pride. You will find wisdom in those that are well-advised. When we have many people, we can go to for good advice, we will learn some knowledge.

He that refuseth instructions despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth repoof getteth understand. - Proverbs 15:32

Have you ever witnessed a child refuse instruction? They think they know better, and then rebel. Ever heard the saying, “Some people learn the hard way.” A rebellious person learns this way. They reject what they were told, then make unwise decisions. Through consequences, they learn, but it doesn’t have to be this way. It’s harsh but true. They despise their own souls. If you hear a rebuke or scolding, you will gain insight and good judgment.

The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility. -Proverbs 15:33

God's (perfect) way is the opposite of the world. The world will honor those that are undeserving because of their position and sometimes humility never comes. In God, humility comes first so that we can handle and maintain honor with integrity.

If I ask about the color of a dress or the best way to prepare a meal, I expect an opinion. Opinions are good in their places, but don’t let anyone or anything keep us from taking time to get a multitude of counsel. If we have a good support system, we need to take advantage of it and be grateful. Trust me, God did not place just anyone in our corner! They were hand-picked for us and us for them.

We have the wonderful Counselor (Jesus) and his precious Holy Spirit (Comforter); therefore, we have no excuses. Not only can we utilize Godly counsel, but we can also Give it. Even if we don’t have many or anyone around us that we feel comfortable going to for counsel, we have the counselor, within!

If you haven’t been filled with the Holy Spirit, you can go to God’s word after counseling, which is His Spirit. So, let’s receive good counsel, be a source of good counsel for others and then watch the heights that God will take you to!
